Minister's Musings

Home Up

Welcome to St David’s new web site:  we hope you will be a regular visitor to find out what’s going on in our place. As the minister, I intend to write regularly for this space and would welcome any response.

I have been the minister here for six years, and have really enjoyed my time. St David’s folk are great people: good humoured, friendly and hardworking.

From October 2006 - October 2008 I served a term as the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church for New Zealand, and the parish was served by some wonderful Interim Ministers.

What are the things that matter to us at St David’s?  Well you can find this out by looking round the web site, but here is a summary:

*        We are a Presbyterian Church in the suburb of Terrace End on the corner of Main and Rainforth Streets, Palmerston North.

*        We offer warm hospitality that with Christ’s love, is accepting of all.

*        Our worship is thoughtful and inspiring, using traditional and creative, participatory styles.

*        We have a community-facing attitude, choosing to engage with the local community in programmes and pastoral care.

*        We are a ‘Kid’s Friendly’ church: we focus on making aspects of our church attuned to the needs of children and their families.

*        We see each other as companions on the Christian journey, and aim to encourage each other in study and with prayer.

*        The leadership of the church is shared by the ministers, elders and paid staff and is open and accountable to the congregation.

*        Our buildings are a community centre with the worship centre at the heart.

As I write this in February, I am aware that the year is just beginning, and our children’s programmes and the “Meeting Point” are barely up and running.  But the planning is well under way and it will come together with its usual enthusiastic welcome.  We have some wonderful volunteers at St David’s, though of course we could always do with more!

During Lent, (the forty days leading up to Easter), we will be running a special programme of study called “Who do you say I am?”  (from Mark 7)  We would welcome any one who would like to join a group.

In the meantime, may I offer you the blessing of God in your life, and invite you to drop in on us again!

Pamela
