Doodlebugs is a pre-school play group catering for newborn children through to kindy age kids.

It is a semi structured play group. We have outdoor play which can be anything from sandpit, painting, water play, playing with wheat and shaving foam. Then a sit down morning tea with more play or craft activities then tidy up time.

After that we gather on the mat with with a song like Mrs Bunny which we do actions to, read a book like Five Little Ladybugs and a few hand action songs followed by parachute play.

Inside The Lighthouse we have play dough, puzzles, books and a craft activity. This can be anything from making Mothers Day cards to potato stamping. Some times these are themed, for example Numbers Day.

The children also enjoy the range of toys we have and dressing up in the costumes we have.

Morning tea for the children is structured so we like you to bring along fruit or sandwiches etc.

Animals play a part in our programme with regular visits from pets and an annual farm visit for those who want to come along and meet some ponies, kune kune pigs, feed some lambs and talk to some chooks.

We have a very friendly atmosphere and fathers are encouraged along with grandparents to come along too. This is a group where if you come one week and not the next you will never be made to feel under any presuure.

We also have a small library on parenting, family and relationship subjects for parents to borrow from and for the children there are DVD's and video tapes to borrow at no cost.

When? Tuesdays from 10:00 am until 11:30 am during the school term
